Featuring 2 local Philippine beauty brands that may be better than your favorite Western beauty brands!
When I got back to the Philippines, I was so excited to know that the local beauty business has expanded compared to when I left the country. I noted down the beauty brands I wanted to try out. I asked a few of my friends which ones are their favorites and two brands stood out to me the most, so I bought a few stuff from these brands.
BLK Cosmetics is a beauty brand by Philippine actress, Anne Curtis. The brand aims to simplify your makeup routine with no-frills, quality cosmetics; just simple, wearable and beautiful makeup that’s worth your time and money.
What convinced me to try the brand out? It’s practical, long-wearing, paraben-free and very affordable too!
I got 2 lippies from their Kbeauty collection, the Two-Tone All Day Intense Matte Lipstick.
These are two tone lippie sticks with matte finish that has zero sheen. This is formulated with Vitamin E and Camellia oil so these sure are non-drying, perfect for all-day wear. You can use these to achieve that lovely ombré lip effect but is also gorgeous when combined or even worn alone with each color.
The shades I got are Lily and Dandelion.
Lily is a combination of a mauve pink and a coral nude. This is perfect if you prefer mlbb shades as your go-to lippie shade like me.
While Dandelion is a combination of a nude pink and a warm red. For those who want a subtle spice up for their daily lip wear, this is great for you.
I personally love the gradient lip effect so having these lippies is very convenient but I also equally love a vivid lip so when I tried to combine the colors of each of these lippie sticks, I fell in love. The combination was amazingly created. I still find myself touching up in the middle of the day though with these lippies and there was a bit of transfer too but these are not bothersome. Also, despite having them matte, these are still moisturizing which is a big plus for me.
Sunnies Face is one brand I have been seeing all over social media lately so I was intrigued. Sunnies Face is the makeup brand from the creators of the sunglasses brand, Sunnies and eyeglasses brand, Sunnies Specs.
The brand promises to have luxury brand formulas, to be accessible with the most flattering colors. It is also animal cruelty-free and paraben-free.
To try out, I got one lippie from their famous Fluffmatte and one blush from their latest release which is the Airblush.
The Fluffmatte is a line of creamy matte and moisturizing lippies. These have 9 shades with a variety of warm colors and purples too. I got the shade Milkshake which is a pink nude. I was amazed with how creamy and lightweight the lippie is. Even without any application of a lip balm, it didn’t dry my lips out. The color is very vivid too and it lasts about 6-8 hours. You would still need to reapply it when eating and drinking but I wouldn’t mind since it’s very moisturizing.
The Airblush is their latest line, it is a line of cream blushes. It has 5 shades and I got the shade, Doll, which is a carnation pink. The blush is very lightweight and very buildable. True to what it’s called, it’s as light as air when applied. I only apply blushed on special days but with this, I’m already thinking twice. It is great for everyday wear. You’ll love it!
I’m very pleased with the shades I got. The lippie is perfect for my daily wear and the blush is really subtle, it looks natural.
Both brands are totally must tries and are brands to look out for! These brands give the quality of what your favorite luxury beauty brand can give but are definitely more affordable.
Be pretty, be happy, be you! H~
