How to get through days when you’re extra down?
Recently, I’ve been really busy, with work, with classes and all other engagements. In one of my classes, my instructor asked me, do you like looking at the sky? I said yes, of course. Which one do you like better, the morning sky or the night sky? She asked again. I said the morning sky. Knowing me, I’m a morning person and the sunrise is like a vitamin to me. The beautiful morning sky signified a new day for me. A new day meant new chances and new opportunities.
Thinking of it now, I would still answer the same thing but I would have seconded it with I equally love both skies. I know most of you would prefer the night sky. I asked a few friends the same question and 80% of them answered the night sky so I thought about it again. Most of their reasons were because of the beautiful night horizon. Yes, looking at the moon and the stars is something that makes me happy too but what got into me was what the night sky symbolized. It symbolizes of all the hard work I did that day and all of the lessons I learned. Both skies are equally amazing to me.
Sharing this to you because this is one of the few things that help me get by. I mean everyone has their own bad days, but you’ve got to keep hanging on. I’ve been there, I wouldn’t say that I fell into a slump but I had days when I ask myself, my purpose of living. Then one day, the people who truly loved me helped me realize my worth and that got me motivated. I may not know my real purpose of living yet but I know I’m living my life well. Things may not always go the way I want them to be but these things always happen for a reason. By reason, it’s not something you should look for because you will just eventually realize it as you get by difficult days.
Here are a few tips that help me stay motivated. These may or may not work for you, well it always vary per person but I hope I can give you an idea.
1. Set your goals and remind yourself of these every time you feel down.
2. Surround yourself with positive people. Recognize that you’re loved.
3. When it gets too difficult, give yourself a break, breathe and relax for a while. Don’t be too hard on yourself, everyone has their limits.
4. Check your progress from time to time. Track the developments you’ve made.
5. You deserve a reward! Give yourself something whenever you tick a box or when you’re able to accomplish something.
It’s March, meaning, a month full of accomplishments. Congratulations to all who graduated and who will be graduating. To those who are having a hard time, hang in there, you can do it!
P.S. I may post more inspirational, lifestyle posts in the upcoming months. I’ve been up for these kinds of posts, wanting to help. Please look forward to them.
