Yes, I’m talking about lip tints!
I’m a certified lip product (lip balm, lip tint, lipstick, lip stain, lip gloss, etc.) junkie and hoarder. Recently, I’m loving lip tints. It’s the lip product I see myself picking up and wearing whenever I go out these days. With this, I couldn’t help but compare the 2 kinds of lip tints I usually wear.
Water based lip tint
What I have with me is the Tony Moly Tony Tint Delight in Cherry Pink, this is 98% water based. I already made a review of this tint (see here) and I love this! Water based lip tints are for those who wants minimal and natural looking color. I may need to apply lip balm before applying this lip tint since this isn’t really moisturizing. The color pay off is great and, it’s very buildable and layerable.
Oil based lip tint
This Holika Holika Pro: Beauty Bloody Oil Tint is the lip tint I have recently purchased and I have been using this since last week. This is divided into 2 parts, the oil and the color. If you want the bloody color effect of this tint, shake the bottle to mix up both oil & color then apply unto lips. . If you want the natural looking lips, you need not shake the bottle. It is available in 5 colors and has a doe foot applicator.
This promises a high moisturizing formula. Well as expected from oil based lip tints, this made my lips more moisturized. This settles more on the inner lips as well, making it great for gradient lips. I just don’t like the fact that I can see some particles floating around in this lip tint. Some loves this and some doesn’t. But I like this and I’d give this a 3.5/5.
I made 2 swatches of these lip tints. It’s interesting that the water based lip tint gives the better color pay off and it lasts longer as well. But of course, the oil based lip tint is more moisturizing whom someone with dry lips like me would need. I love both lip tints but for me, who always prefer the natural look, would choose the water based lip tint. Which one would you prefer?
Be pretty, be happy, be you! H~
