A little introduction to Skip-care, how does it work?
Late last year, I read about skip-care and how it is taking over the web. Skip-care is the skincare trend introduced last year, known to be the improvised version of the 12 step skincare regime. Basically, skip-care, as per Amore Pacific, is a skincare method that allows you to identify the essential ingredients for your skin and avoid the use of unnecessary products for a simpler, yet proper, skincare routine.
Skip-care is about investing on the products that works. The use of multi functional products are highly recommended in this method as well which is something I know millennials would agree with as it is very practical yet the purpose isn’t defeated. It is also somehow a detox for your skin without risking the benefits you get from your usual skincare routine.
Most of you know how much I love the 10-12 step skincare routine but on days that I’m knackered from work, I would just skip a few products from my usual regime especially at night time. This was the reason that pushed me to try skip-care for a month.
My usual skincare regime consists of the following:
Daytime:
- Benton Tea Tree Cleansing Water
- Shiseido Senka Perfect Whip Cleanser
- Neogen Real Cica Pad
- Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
- Cosrx Oil-Free Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion
- Cosrx Aloe Soothing Sun Cream
- Lucas Papaw Ointment (as lip balm)
Nighttime:
- Bifesta Cleansing Sheets
- Benton Tea Tree Cleansing Water
- Cosrx Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser
- Lip Scrub (at least twice to thrice a week)
- Cosrx AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner
- Cosrx AHA Whitehead Power Liquid (every other day)
- Neogen Real Cica Pad (alternating with the Cosrx AHA Whitehead Power Liquid)
- Face Sheet Mask (I usually do this twice or thrice a week)
- Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
- Cosrx Centella Blemish Ampule
- Troiareuke Acsen Recovery Cream
- Mizon Only One Eye Cream for Face
- Cosrx Pimple Master Patch (for days when I’ve got spots or sometimes a medicated spot treatment in place of this)
- Lucas Papaw Ointment (as lip mask)
Instead of buying new stuff, I decided to just use what I’ve got and deciding which products to skip was quite difficult for me. In the end, I chose those products which I swear by and have helped my skin a lot already.
My Skip-care regime:
- Benton Tea Tree Cleansing Water
- Cosrx Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser
- Neogen Real Cica Pad (for toner & mild exfoliation)
- Troiareuke Acsen Recovery Cream
- Cosrx Aloe Soothing Sun Cream (for daytime)
- Lucas Papaw Ointment (as lip mask/ lip balm)
There was no way I’m dropping the double cleanse. Most of you know how much I love me with some double cleanse, may it be daytime or night time. Creating this final list took me a week to finalize as I love all the products in my regular skincare regime but these are the products which made miracles to my skin. I would be tempted to use the Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence from time to time and wear a face mask at least once or twice a week as I love some extra moisture and pampering.
I was able to appreciate the whole method and luckily, with the whole month that I’ve been following this, I didn’t have any bad breakouts or times I felt like my skin was a bit dry even with the cold and drying season.
I would totally recommend this for those who are very busy and tired to complete a 10 or more step skincare routine when they get home. Would I continue doing this? I think I would but with the addition of the Snail Essence and a good spot treatment, especially for that time of the month when those pesky spots appear.
Do you think this is something you would try or do?
